ITINERARY

ARRIVAL YANGON     (-/-/D)

DAY 1 SUN  Meet on arrival at Yangon International Airport and transfer to hotel. Today's sightseeing tour includes the old colonial-style city center, the gilded Sule Pagoda, dating back over 2,000 years and Bogyoke Market (Scott’s Market). The tour continues to Chauk Htat Kyi, a huge reclining Buddha image, followed by a photo stop made at the Karaweik Hall royal floating barge. An extended visit to Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world's most spectacular religious monuments, will conclude the tour of this picturesque Garden City. The golden dome of Shwedagon Pagoda rises 98 meters above its base and is covered with 60 tons of pure gold. Lunch to own account. Dinner and accommodation at Traders Hotel, Yangon (Deluxe room)

YANGON – BAGAN     (B/L/d)

DAY 2 MON  Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Yangon Airport for domestic flight to Bagan. Upon arrival in Bagan, transfer to hotel and proceed on a sightseeing tour, starting with the busy local market and continuing with visits to a diverse selection of the most important pagodas and temples such as Shwezi Gon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century, Ku Brauk Gyi, a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka scenes, Khay Min Ga Temple, noted for its spectacular panoramic view of the area’s many monuments and Ananda Temple with its four huge standing-Buddha images and numerous seated figures arranged around the interior gallery. Lunch at Sunset Garden Restaurant. In the afternoon, visit to a lacquer craftsman's workshop in nearby Myingaba village. Sightseeing continues with visits to Manuha Temple, built in Mon style in 1059, Nanbaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument that is said to have been the palace of King Manuha, and Myingaba Gu Byauk Gyi (under the protection of UNESCO), noted for its ancient mural paintings. Observe a sunset in the vicinity of Bagan’s ancient monuments. Dinner and accommodation at Myanmar Treasure Hotel, Bagan (Deluxe room).

BAGAN – MOUNT POPA – BAGAN     (B/L/d)

DAY 3 TUE Optional morning program: Offering a unique opportunity to see the ancient city of Bagan from a different perspective. With "Balloons Over Bagan" you get a magnificent birds-eye view of thousand year-old pagodas, temples and the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. The champagne flights at sunrise last just under one hour and take off daily from October through March. The balloon is guided by gentle winds not exceeding 24 km/h. Eight passengers plus a pilot fit into the balloon's basket. The price is US$ 270.00 per person. Due to the limited capacity, advance bookings at an early stage are highly recommended. Breakfast at hotel. Proceed on a scenic overland journey to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano with a shrine dedicated to animist spirits known as “Nats”. Lunch is served at the beautiful Popa Mountain Resort. For the energetic, there is time to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the volcanic plug. Return to Bagan for dinner and accommodation at Myanmar Treasure Hotel, Bagan (Deluxe room).

BAGAN – MANDALAY – Amarapura     (B/L/d)

DAY 4 WED  Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Bagan Airport for domestic flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival at Mandalay Airport, drive to Amarapura and visit Mahagandayon, a famous Buddhist monastery, where more than a thousand monks live and study; continue to the 150-year-old U Bein teak bridge, built in 1851 at the time when Amarapura was the royal capital. Visit Bagaya Monastery, with a superb collection of Buddha statues. Lunch at Amarapura Restaurant. An afternoon of comprehensive sightseeing in Mandalay includes Mahamuni Pagoda with its spectacular Buddha image covered with thick layers of gold leaves, a visit to a craftsman's workshop to see Kalaga tapestries being created, Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung (Golden Monastery), a superb example of a traditional wooden building and Kuthodaw Pagoda (known as the world's largest book), consisting of 729 marble slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. Enjoy a sunset from Mandalay Hill. Dinner and show at hotel. Accommodation at Mandalay Hill Resort, Mandalay (Superior room).

mandalay – HEHO – pindaya - INLE LAKE     (B/L/d)

DAY 5 THU  Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Mandalay Airport for domestic flight to Heho. Upon arrival in Heho, overland drive to Pindaya (60 km - 1˝ hours). Visit the unique Pindaya Caves, where pilgrims placed thousands of Buddha images over the span of many centuries. After lunch at Memento restaurant, proceed by road to Inle Lake(90 km - 2˝ hours) and by boat to the hotel on the lake. Dinner and accommodation at Shwe Inn Tha Hotel, Inle Lake (Superior room).

INLE lake     (B/l/d)

DAY 6 FRI  Breakfast at hotel. During today's excursion by boat on picturesque Inle Lake we see the famous leg rowers, the typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing and village life. Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant on the lake. Further visits are made to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the weaving village of Inpawkhon and other interesting sights. The beauty of sunset over Inle Lake enchants all visitors. Dinner and accommodation at Shwe Inn Tha Hotel, Inle Lake (Superior room).

INLE lake – HEHO – YANGON     (B/l/d)

DAY 7 SAT  Breakfast at hotel. Visit a colorful local market in the Inle Lake region (on market day only), then proceed to Heho Airport (25 km - 1 hour). Lunch at a simple restaurant en route. Domestic flight to Yangon and transfer to hotel. Balance of the day at leisure to pursue individual interests. The tour guide and car remain at the clients' disposal for further sightseeing or shopping. Dinner and accommodation at Traders Hotel, Yangon (Deluxe room).
